God created the sun and told Bob that it would provide all humans with life and light. God said, “Even though it’s big and beautiful, you cannot look at it, for your body will burn.” Bob agreed and avoided looking at the sun for the next three seasons, which was the rest of fall, winter, and spring.
After the three seasons, a beautiful sun goddess stood upon the sun and beckoned Bob to look up to her. Bob refused, but inside he desperately wanted to look. The goddess’ voice was so soft and beautiful that he was sure that her looks would match the voice. He looked up briefly, just enough to catch a glimpse of her amazing beauty. She was even more beautiful than he imagined. As quickly as she appeared, she left and only the big, warm sun was left. Bob continued to search for the goddess and stared up at the sun for hours.
When he realized that she was gone, he turned his face away, depressed, and buried his head in his hands. But, there was something wrong with his hands, in fact his whole body, was red and peeling. His eyes started to smoke and he wrinkled over night. Every time he touched his skin it stung like 20 be stings.
God came back to visit him one day and saw that Bob’s skin was burned and that his eyes were gone. “You have disobeyed me!” god said. “You have brought the curse of sun burn onto man kind.” He disappeared in the sky and left Bob on Earth burning and crying.
From then on whenever people are in the sun for too long their skin peels and burns. We call this sun burn.
